4 new names added to the Thiel Fellowship awardees list
Getting an idea funded is a dream for every entrepreneur. And when it comes to getting funded by Thiel foundation, it’s an early Christmas celebration. Four blockchain entrepreneurs can proudly add their names to the Thiel fellowship awardees.
The Thiel Foundation is run by and funded billionaire, investor & PayPal co-founder, Peter Thiel. The Thiel Foundation announced its 2018 class of Thiel fellowship awardees on Friday. In the list, Vest co-founder Axel Ericsson, Polkadot co-founder Robert Habermeier, MyCrypto CTO Daniel Ternyak and Mechanism Labs co-founder Aparna Krishnan.
The latest crew will join the most notable person behind Satoshi Nakamoto, Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Buterin. Buterin was awarded by this award in 2014. Furthermore, each of the recipients will be given $100,000 to work/fund their future projects.
Sure, the amount isn’t enough to fund the full project. But its just enough to get a kickstart that can run the project to get more funds. The fund will be given over two years for supporting any of their project needs.
“The environment for entrepreneurs is the best it’s ever been. This year’s class proves that there’s still a hunger for individuals seeking unconventional approaches.” Jack Abraham executive chairman of the Thiel Fellowship.
“College isn’t for everyone, and it certainly isn’t for everyone fresh out of high school,” said Allyson Dias, director of the Thiel Fellowship. “Leaving behind the safety of the classroom and choosing to build a business instead isn’t easy or glamorous. But our Fellows have found what we suspect to be true more broadly: young people learn best by doing things in the real world.”
Till date, the companies founded with funds received from Thiel fellowship is worth around $3 billion together. This figure is not inclusive of Ethereum, which has a market cap of around $45 billion as of Jun 26.
